Teresa Rivera |
Teresa Rivera is a graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Health and Human Performance. Upon graduation, she began working as a high school teacher because she always had the drive to teach and make an impact in people’s lives. Soon after, however, Teresa found she had a passion for nutrition and dietetics and she decided to make a career change. She decided to pursue a second degree in Nutrition from the University of Houston in 2012. Teresa then completed her dietetic internship in 2015 from Dominican University in Chicago, IL. Since then, Teresa has worked closely with the Houston community to help fight the obesity epidemic and educate the lower economic population. Teresa’s past experience includes The Houston Food Bank, Women Infants and Children’s supplement program (WIC), and Children’s Nutrition education programs. She comes to us from a private practice where she served for the last 3 years as their clinical out-patient dietitian in the Heights and worked one-on-one with patients to educate them on how to manage illness such as Diabetes, Cholesterol, Hypertension, Obesity and many other nutrition related through lifestyle change. She works with our diabetic referrals on an appointment bases and also conducts group classes on Diabetes, General Nutrition, Health Education and Cholesterol. Teresa is fluent in Spanish. |
